Lana Fern is an experienced strategic philanthropist who works with clients to develop, implement, and evaluate their giving strategies.

Lana began her philanthropic journey at age 12 when her parents told her she had to give the money she received from her bat-mitzvah to charity. She joined forces with a group of friends and, together, they started a giving circle. This transformative experience ignited a lifelong commitment to philanthropy.

From there, Lana couldn't get enough. Today, in addition to her involvement with her family's foundation, Lana serves on the Board of Slingshot, sits on the Issues Committee for the National Center for Family Philanthropy, and is a member of World Economic Forum Global Shapers, Summit Series, Nexus, Reboot, Thousand Network, and the ROI Community. She also takes her work on the road, speaking at conferences, events, and universities about Millennial giving.

Prior to founding White Light Strategies, Lana served as Executive Director of Giving Circles Fund, an organization that inspires a lifelong habit of philanthropy by empowering communities to give together. Lana led the organization for over 4 years, developing an online giving circle platform that engaged thousands of young adults in strategic, collaborative philanthropy. In 2015 she facilitated an acquisition by the Laura Arrillaga Andreessen Foundation, a foundation that uses technology to increase philanthropy educational programs across the world.

She previously worked as a technology consultant at Deloitte Consulting and holds a BSBA and Graduate Certificate in NonProfit Management from Washington University in St. Louis.
